Dryopteris filix mas linearis polydacyla
A deciduous, bushy fern, with foliage through spring to autumn.
Large clump forming erect to arching mid-green fronds that have an airy and delicate appearance.
Likes full or partial shade, in well drained but moist soil. Works well along side hostas and hellibores.
Can reach 1.5m high and 1m spread.
Korean Rock Fern.
A small tuffted evergreen fern with narrow erect lance shaped fronds. Often found on the forest floors and rocky slopes, making this fern perfect for planting in a rockery garden or the front of a shady border.
Plant in full or partial shade in a moist well drained soil.
Can reach 0.5m in height and spread.
An Evergreen Fern.
The new orange-red fronds in spring, which turn to green through out the season contrast with the shiny dark green mature fronds.
The bipinnate triangular blades draw attention in the autumn with bright red spores on the undersides.
Plant in full or partial shade in a moist well drained soil. Can reach 60cm in height and spread.
Polystichum Setiferum
A large hardy evergreen fern, bearing dark green soft fronds that emerge upright before unfurling and opening.
This fern works well with solomans seal and hostas.
Grow in moist well drained soil in full sun or part shade. Can reach 1.2m high and 1m spread.
Japanese lace fern.
An evergreen bushy fern.The dark glossy green fronds form a shuttlecock like spreading habit.
The young fronds are yellowish green, more erect and covered with hair-like golden scales.
Plant in full or partial shade, in well drained, moist soil. Can reach 1m in height and spread.
Blackwood fern, shaggywood fern
A semi evergreen, hardy fern. Grows to a strong habit.
The fronds have long midribs, resembling elephants trunks as they spread, revealing large dark green leaves, adding an oriental feel to your garden.
Plant in full or partial shade in moist well drained soil. Cut back any foliage to the ground to make way for the new fronds in spring. Can reach height and spread 90cm.
