Weed infested garden - identification needed please

I have attached a couple of photograps which explain all..if any one can identify this plant and how to get rid of it, it would be very much appreciated

not sure what the name of the weed is but i would suggest using the Roundup weedkiller Gel which is available at most garden centres. This is applied onto the leaves and will then kill the roots.
